Manufacturing output contracted for the second month in 2019, the first back-to-back declines since mid-2017. Weakened output industries included motor vehicles, furniture and machinery. Retail sales and housing sales numbers are also down in 2019, signaling a loss of economic momentum in 2019. There isn’t an indication that the economy will rebound any time soon as growth in orders, employment, production and deliveries waned in February, to a two-year low.
