Project overview
A structural support frame for an automated pharmaceutical dispensing machine required tight mounting-point and hole-location tolerances, controlled beam twist, AWS D1.1 welding, and an appliance-white powder coat finish.
Project requirements
- 0.050-inch tolerance across diagonal mounting points
- 0.030-inch positional tolerance on hole locations
- Horizontal location beam held within one degree of twist
- Welding to AWS D1.1 specifications and an appliance-white powder coat finish
Manufacturing approach
- Fixture all components for welding and reduce welding where possible to control distortion
- Use dedicated tooling and process controls to hold the frame tolerances
- Work with the client engineering team on design-for-manufacturing and cost reduction
- Ship the frame on a skid to support production-line assembly
