Hello and thanks to everyone in the Lupton Associates sphere, both internally and externally, for making me feel so welcome over my initial eight months with the firm.
Having enjoyed a fruitful career as a manufacturer’s rep in the electronic component world since 1992, I always assumed that I would finish my career in that field. 2020 changed lots of people’s worlds, so why would mine be any different? In need of a new sales or management position, I reached out to many people from my network of electronics contacts with a desire to cast a wider net, but never thought of venturing outside of components. That all changed when I contacted a consulting friend from Toronto who suggested talking to Al Lupton. We hit it off, and there was a mutual need, so I was given the chance to cast that wider net with a more industrial slant on the technology. My “post-pandemic” new normal is taking shape, and things have never looked better!
There is some crossover, as I have done extensive work with cable assemblies, and have had EMS experience too. What has been so interesting to me is learning more about other engineered components like metal fabrication and stamping, plastic molding, custom rubber and even gas springs! Yes, connectors and switches are made of plastic and stamped metal, but so are lots of other products! I love all my contacts and customers in the metro New York marketplace, and look forward to assisting them in any way I can. I’m really enjoying being back in Connecticut and casting my net a bit wider — up through western Massachusetts and Vermont. I am looking forward to meeting my northern Vermont and Quebec based customers in person very soon. Finally, my eastern upstate New York accounts, you have made these initial months at Lupton’s interesting and rewarding.
I look forward to this “new” career move and anticipate a successful partnership with all our principals and customers. Thank you!–Commentary provided by Craig Chapman, Lupton Associates Business Development
