Reflections from my First Year. Click to keep reading…

In September of 2020, I was given the incredible opportunity to be a part of the Lupton Associates team. While I was concerned about travel restrictions and the ongoing pandemic, I decided to make the most of the situation and learn as much as I possibly could about our industry. The first thing that I learned about the manufacturing world, regardless of a global health crisis or an economic downturn, is that there is always a solution. I believe that statement is extremely reflective of the Lupton Associates mind set… There is always a solution.

Several years ago, when I first began my career in sales, a colleague of mine gave me some great advice. He simply told me to “Be the guy.” I was confused as to what he meant by that and asked him to elaborate. “Be the guy,” He said, “the guy that your customer can trust to call on with any question or problem. If you do not have a solution to their problem, be the guy to find the solution. If you don’t know the answer to their question, be the guy to find the answer for them.” His advice has stuck with me since day one. Whether it’s stamped components or data storage assemblies, be the guy that your customer can trust and rely on regardless of the situation.

Oddly enough, I believe that my timing into this industry was perfect. Due to recent events, we have all seen the industry at a ‘low’ point and I think I can speak for the Lupton’s team in saying that we are eager to be a part of the ‘bounce back’. Right now, as we are nearing the end of the pandemic, it is a perfect time to help businesses grow stronger than ever before.

As this is my first newsletter, I would like to recognize that this organization consists of intelligent, hardworking, and exceedingly honest people. I cannot thank Lupton Associates enough for this great opportunity. I am both excited and exceptionally grateful to be in a position to learn, meet new people, and above all, be the guy my customers and manufacturers can rely on.–Commentary provided by Luke Hinkle, Lupton Associates’ Business Development.
